KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — A westbound lane of Kent County’s bustling 44th Street corridor is expected to be closed for more than a week after a water main break Thursday.
Kent County dispatchers said westbound 44th Street SE between Brockton and Danvers drives is closed because of the bursted pipe.

Authorities announced the road closure around 2 a.m. and expected the roadway to stay closed after the morning rush hour. In an update on Facebook around 11 a.m., the city of Kentwood said one of the westbound lanes remained closed and crews expected to have the break fixed by May 3.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
It’s unclear what led to the water main break.
