To The Point: U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga

To The Point

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, a Republican from Zeeland, says the House of Representatives has the “power of the purse” when it comes to the budget process.

For example, Huizenga talks about the $300 million for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative funding that was first cut in President Donald Trump’s budget before he promised “full funding” for it.

“It really is the House of Representatives that has the constitutional power of the purse to put that back in, but it’s a lot easier now when we have the president publicly saying into a microphone, from a stage, I’m on board with this, let’s get it done,” Huizenga said.

Huizenga talks more about the budget process, health care, politics and Michigan’s role in the 2020 election cycle on this episode of “To The Point.”
