To The Point: Sen. Nofs, Sen.-elect Brinks

To The Point

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — As the end of the year nears, some Michigan legislators are preparing to leave Lansing and others are readying for a new role.

Grand Rapids Democrat Rep. Winnie Brinks, for example, is moving to the Upper Chamber in the new year.

“It’s been nearly 100 years since we’ve had a woman from Grand Rapids serve in the Senate,” she said. “Eva McCall Hamilton was the very first ever, so I’m proud to be the second one from Grand Rapids. And it was a great victory on Nov. 6. A solid, early, decisive victory, so we feel really good about the campaign we ran and the spot we’re in. Making a little bit of history just makes it all the much better.

Above on this Dec. 9, 2018, episode of “To The Point,” we cover the new look of Lansing and what’s on the agenda for the coming year, as well as touch base with those who are leaving.
