To The Point: House Speaker Lee Chatfield

LANSING, Mich. (WOOD) — Continuing our conversation with the new leadership in Lansing, Speaker of the House Lee Chatfield talked with To The Point about how the divided state government will function.

Chatfield, a Republican from Levering, discussed the necessity of and opportunity to compromise when his party still controls the Legislature and the governor is a Democrat.

"I think in an era of divided government, we are presented with certain challenges," he said, "but at the same time, we're also presented with an equal amount of opportunity to show people that though we have differences and though we have disagreements between parties, we can find areas of consensus."
