Thousands of animals adopted for Clear the Shelters

WOOD TV8 and NBC stations across the country teamed up with hundreds of shelters across the country on Saturday to host Clear the Shelters, a nationwide pet adoption drive, to help find loving homes for animals in need.
 
Since the Clear the Shelters 2018 event started on July 30, 365 pets have been adopted from participating shelters in West Michigan, with more than 72,000 adoptions nationwide. Those numbers are still coming in.
 
 
The participating shelters offered discounts Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 in West Michigan:

  • Adopters will get the chance to “SPIN THE WHEEL” to receive a discount on their adoption fee. 10% all the way up to 100%!
  • Adult cats over the age of 5 months are fee waived.
  • All cats, including kittens, are Adopt One and Take Another Feline Friend Home for Free!
  • Puppies are not included in the adoption special – their adoption fee remains $250.

  • Dogs 5 months and older are $100.
  • Kittens under 5 months are $7.
  • Cats 5 months to 7 years are $5.
  • Cats and Kittens are adopt one get one free.
  • Cats and dogs over the age of 7 years are fee waived.
  • Puppies under age of 5 months will not be available for adoption on the day of the event.
