GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Muskegon-area teen who spent more than a week in the hospital after being pulled from Lake Michigan has died.

Jamarion Gomez died Saturday, officials at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital confirmed.

The 13-year-old went under the water at Pere Marquette Beach in Muskegon on Aug. 11. He was pulled from the water and rushed to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition for days.

Jamarion’s family told 24 Hour News 8 Saturday night that teen lived 13 great years and was a happy boy. They said he will truly be missed.
