Storm causes power outages in West Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Thousands of homes and businesses lost power Thursday after strong storms swept through West Michigan during the afternoon.

Service had been restored for most people by 9:30 p.m., with less than 100 customers affected in Allegan, Barry, Branch, Kent, Muskegon, Ottawa and St. Joseph counties.

There were still about 360 customers without power in Calhoun County and about 140 in Van Buren County, according Consumers Energy.
