GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Every day, thousands of children are being treated at one of the nation’s top hospitals, located in downtown Grand Rapids.

Now is the community’s chance to step in and support the team at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

The Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital “Think Outside Yourself” Radiothon runs Dec. 8-9 on STAR 105.7 FM. The event raises money for the hospital while attracting attention to its accomplishments, with stories from patients, doctors and community leaders.

Organizers say last year, more than 884 people called in a pledge, raising more than $166,000 for the hospital.

Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital is one of the largest children’s hospitals in the Midwest, treating more than 193,000 children each year. It was ranked as a top hospital in 2016 for the fourth year in a row by U.S. News and World Report. Its neonatal intensive care unit is one of the top five largest in the country.

The “Think Outside Yourself” Radiothon runs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days from Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital lobby. To donate, visit the hospital’s website.
