Suspect in deadly Benton Harbor shooting ID’d, wanted

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (WOOD) — Benton Harbor police have identified a suspect in a shooting that killed one man and critically injured two other people.

Tarone Devon Washington, 22, is wanted on charges of assault with intent to murder and felony firearms in connection to a shooting on Edgecumbe Avenue near Forest Avenue.

Authorities arrived at the chaotic scene around 3:30 a.m. Sunday and discovered two men and a woman had been shot.

All of the victims were taken to Lakeland Hospital. One of them, 26-year-old Joseph Tyson, died a short time later.

Officers found a variety of shell casings at the scene, suggesting multiple weapons were fired.

Investigators are also looking for DeCorey Monte Harris Jr., who is considered a person of interest in the case. The 24-year-old man is also a parole absconder.
