MENDON, Mich. (WOOD) — A St. Joseph County auto parts manufacturer announced it is cutting 83 jobs this week.
International Automotive Components in Mendon it cut the hourly positions Friday.
A company spokesperson said the layoffs are a result of a GM program phasing out in mid-2019. The cuts are not related to GM’s decision to lay off thousands of workers and close several plants worldwide.
The company is working with a local United Auto Workers Union, but the cuts were unavoidable.
IAC cut around 60 hourly positions at the plant for the same reason.
