BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A 25-year-old man who admitted to biting his son’s neck for taking his vape pipe will spend about a month in jail.

A Branch County judge Monday sentenced Jeremy Cook to 30 days in jail for fourth-degree child abuse and lying to a police officer in connection to the incident.

Child Protective Services called Michigan State Police to a home in Batavia Township, south of Battle Creek, after noticing a prevalent bite mark on the boy’s neck, according to court records.

Cook first claimed he accidentally bit his son because the child twitched when they were playing a “vampire” game. However, he later admitted he intentionally bit his son to discipline him for taking his vape pipe, court records show.

Cook was charged on March 27.

He must also serve 12 months’ probation as part of his sentence.
