BANGOR, Mich. (WOOD) — Three people suffered minor injuries after two men attacked them with a machete over a dispute in a soccer game at a park Saturday evening.

Bangor Police Chief Tom Simpson said officers were dispatched to Don Mora Park on N. Center Street around 8:30 p.m. after callers alleged two men were attacking people with a machete during a soccer game.

Simpson said after a heated argument with referees, one of the men handed the other a machete and began wielding it at the three individuals, causing minor injuries.

The suspects were taken into custody without incident shortly after officers arrived at the scene.

One person was taken to an area hospital while the other two refused medical attention.
