BANGOR, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say they have found the vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run near Bangor last week.

The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office says a sergeant spotted and pulled over the Dodge Journey believed to have been involved in the crash Friday night. Authorities say the 21-year-old driver admitted he was driving it the night of the crash.

The crash that killed 55-year-old Brian Perry happened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday on Country Road 378 near 61st Street in Bangor Township.

The sheriff’s office said the Journey was impounded to be checked over at the crime lab.

Once the sheriff’s office finishes its investigation, it will pass the case along to prosecutors, who will make a decision on charges.
