Rockford schools alert parents to suspicious driver

ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) – Parents of Rockford Public Schools students have been put on alert about a man who reportedly tried to get a child to enter his car.

On Thursday around 3:20 p.m., a white man driving an older model 4-door sedan approached a student on Cannon Hills Drive near Pettis Avenue in Cannon Township, according to an email from the school system.

The man followed the child and then stopped, telling him he was supposed to give a ride, the email said.

No one in the area recognized the man, or the car, which was black with a green tint, had rust spots along the bottom and was missing hubcaps, authorities said.

The man was described as being around 50 years old, slim and 6 feet tall, the email said. He was wearing a brown leather coat and a green winter hat and he had a short, black goatee.

If anyone sees the man or the car, they should call 911.
