ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) – Rockford High School’s marching band has been selected as one of 10 bands to perform in the 2017 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

High schoolers, as well as 7th and 8th grade students who will be Rockford High School students in 2017, were surprised with the announcement Friday morning.

Rockford was selected from 175 applicants to march in the iconic parade in New York City, according to a release from Macy’s.

Rockford High School Director of Bands Brian Phillips said in the release he was thrilled his students will get to perform in the parade.

“This truly will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that our students will never forget,” he said.
