Profane outburst at murderer’s sentencing

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A man who pleaded guilty to murder shouted profanities at the judge who handed down his sentence Tuesday afternoon.

In a Grand Rapids courtroom, Demario Chandler was sentenced to between 25 and 70 years in a state prison.

After that sentenced was announced, Chandler burst out, “F*** that! What the f*** do you mean?”

He continued to direct curse words at the deputy who pushed him out of the courtroom:

“Get your f****** hands off me, fool!” he said.

As part of a plea agreement last month, Chandler pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the April 2015 death of 34-year-old German Rodriguez-Duarte. Rodriquez-Duarte’s body was found in the yard of a home on Hall Street SW in Grand Rapids.

Chandler was arrested last summer on marijuana charges, then charged with open murder in December.
