GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Power has been restored to a large portion of downtown Grand Rapids.

More than 1,600 Consumers Energy customers lost power Wednesday morning in central downtown, from the Grand River to east of Division and Fulton north to almost Michigan Street. Power was restored around 9:20 a.m.>>Consumers Energy online outage map

Consumers Energy spokesman Roger Morgenstern says a 46,000 volt line went out of service around 8:30 a.m. Crews are still trying to determine if the fault in the volt line is on an underground or overhead portion of the line. The cause of the outage remains under investigation.

The Grand Rapids Children’s Museum and the Grand Rapids Public Library closed temporarily for the outage, but have since reopened.
