IONIA, Mich. (WOOD) — Police in Ionia are investigating after two kids said a stranger approached them at a playground and offered them a ride.

The incident happened just before 7 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Mobile Home Park on N. State Road in Ionia, according to the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.

The two children told police that an unknown man approached them while they were on the playground in the park and asked if they wanted a ride.

When the kids said no, the man asked if they wanted him to follow them home. The kids then ran away.

The kids described him as a white man, between 40 to 50 years old, bald, really thin with a goatee and a deep voice. He was reportedly driving a tan work-style van with square, outside mirrors, a dent on the rear driver side and black tape, possibly electrical tape, on the driver side rear taillight.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office at 616.527.5737.
