ROSEVILLE, Mich. (AP) — Police say a man squealing the tires on a car in suburban Detroit jumped the curb, hitting two young children in strollers and their mothers on a sidewalk.

Roseville police Chief James Berlin says they were struck while walking Tuesday. The Detroit News reports the women and a 3-year-old boy were treated and released while an 11-month-old boy was hospitalized for face injuries and is expected to recover.

Police say both children were thrown from the strollers onto grass while the women were knocked down.

Berlin says the 22-year-old Roseville man who was driving had been spinning the car’s tires, sped up and did a doughnut before going over the curb. He was arrested for reckless driving. Berlin says: “You can’t police stupidity and obviously that’s what this driver was.”
