Police: Alcohol possible factor in crash that killed man and woman

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) —  A man and woman died in a Battle Creek crash Thursday night.

It happened around 9 p.m. at the intersection of E. Columbia Avenue and Riverside Drive.

Police say a vehicle traveling east on E. Columbia Avenue hit another vehicle that was turning left onto the street.

A 56-year-old woman in the turning vehicle died at the scene, authorities say. A 41-year-old man also riding in that vehicle was flown to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo where he was listed in critical condition Friday morning. Sunday night, police confirmed that man died from his injuries.

Authorities say the 32-year-old woman driving the vehicle on Columbia Avenue was not injured.

Police say alcohol appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
