WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — Wyoming police say two people were killed and two others injured in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday.

The crash happened around 3:52 a.m. on Clyde Park Avenue, just south of 52nd Street.

Wyoming police say the vehicle was traveling southbound on Clyde Park Avenue went over the curb, struck a fire hydrant and then a tree. The vehicle split in half in the crash.

Police say the rear-seat passengers, ages 27 and 30-years-old, were thrown from the vehicle. They were pronounced dead on scene.

The driver, a 27-year-old, was also thrown from the vehicle and taken to an area hospital with critical injuries, police say.

Police say the front seat passenger, a 28-year-old, suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at a local hospital. Police say that person was wearing a seat belt.

Authorities say all victims were from the Grand Rapids area. Police are not releasing any names until families can be notified.

Police say speed and alcohol appear to be factors.

The intersection of Clyde Park Avenue and 54th Street was shut down for several hours while police investigated, but it has since reopened.
