GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A pedestrian was seriously injured in a chain-reaction crash that shut down a busy Grand Rapids intersection for two hours.

The crash involving two trucks and a car closed both directions of 28th Street at Eastern Avenue just before 5:15 a.m. Thursday.

Police on scene say a box truck initially knocked a pedestrian into the road. The driver of a car stopped abruptly and was then rear-ended by a semi-truck which pushed the car into the pedestrian who was laying in the road.

The pedestrian suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

None of the drivers have been cited at this time. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

The intersection reopened around 7:15 a.m.>>Inside Current traffic conditions
