PD: Wanted woman faces new charges for repeatedly punching officer

THREE RIVERS, Mich. (WOOD) — A West Michigan woman faces several felony charges after investigators said she repeatedly punched an officer at the Three Rivers Police Department.

The alleged assault happened Tuesday after the 36-year-old was arrested inside the South Main Shell gas station in Three Rivers. Officers sat she was wanted on an outstanding warrant for passing counterfeit cash.

Three Rivers police said about 20 minutes into the booking process, the woman became irate and uncooperative. Authorities say the woman punched an officer six times before he could get handcuffs on her.

Friday, the Three Rivers woman was still in the St. Joseph County jail, where she now faces additional charges of assaulting a police officer, resisting an officer and failure to comply with booking.
