ZEELAND, Mich. (WOOD) — An Ottawa County man’s wallet is a little thicker after winning a Michigan Lottery drawing.
Lottery officials say Nick Rouwhorst of Zeeland was randomly selected during a Cash for a Year Giveaway drawing earlier this month. His payout: $500 a week for a year, which totals about $26,000 before taxes.
The Michigan Lottery says Rouwhorst got into the drawing by earning entries on MichiganLottery.com. The Cash for a Year Giveaway is open to new online players and first-time depositers.
Lottery officials say more than 1 million users have registered to play since Michigan Lottery launched its online games in 2014. Last year, the lottery said it paid out more than $676 million from online games last year.
