PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was hospitalized in critical condition after being pulled from Lake Michigan Wednesday evening.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says crews were called to Windsnest Park in Port Sheldon Township around 8:20 p.m. to conduct a water rescue.

Authorities say the man was swimming about 20 feet from shore when he went under the water. He had last been spotted about three minutes before the call to 911.

Emergency responders soon found the man and rushed him to Holland Hospital.

His name was not released Wednesday night.
