WRIGHT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man accused of a drunken driving crash that killed a couple on a motorcycle trike in Ottawa County has been charged.

Bruce Ross was arraigned Monday on charges of operating while intoxicated causing death in connection to the Sunday night crash that killed 72-year-old Larry Hein and 67-year-old Joyce Hein.

The crash happened just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of 40th Avenue and Cleveland Street, northeast of Coopersville.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said an eastbound motorcycle trike stuck a southbound SUV in the intersection. Both people were thrown from the trike and taken to the hospital where they later died from their injuries.

Ross has two previous alcohol-related driving offenses on his record.
