Suspected drunk driver charged in Ottawa Co. crash

ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — An Allendale man is facing charges for operating while intoxicated after causing a crash that injured several people.

It happened shortly before 11 p.m. on Oct. 4 on Pierce Street near 52nd Avenue in Allendale Township.

Authorities said a 19-year-old Grand Valley State University student was turning into an apartment complex when 18-year-old Chancellor Bennett tried to pass him and caused a crash.

The student was taken to the hospital and was in serious condition. Bennett and two passengers in his vehicle were also injured.

On Friday, Bennett was charged with two counts of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury.
