GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say one shot was fired into the ground during a domestic dispute in Jenison Sunday afternoon.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. on Walnut Avenue near Coral Street in Georgetown Township.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called there on a report that three men, one of whom was armed, were fighting. While deputies were still on the way, there was another report that a shot had been fired and the men were running away.

Deputies who arrived took “several” men into custody temporarily to secure the scene. They also learned a man with an injury to his hand had gone to a nearby home. He had cut his hand on broken glass.

Authorities say the bullet was fired into the ground and  no one was actually shot. They say the incident was domestic in nature and that there’s no threat to the public.
