HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — West Michigan may be grappling with cold and snow, but there’s a sign spring is around the corner: Tulip Time unveiled the 2019 Art in Bloom Poster Winner.
Carolyn Stich is the only artist to ever be selected for the big honor twice. Previously, she won the poster contest in 2015.
“To win this competition twice, it just means the world to me,” Stich told 24 Hour News 8. “I can’t even put it into words. I’m very grateful.”
Her painting “Enduring Delft” will be the image associated with the 90th anniversary of Tulip Time. Post cards, mugs and prints are some of the items already available to promote the festival.
Stich has remained a humble energy in the Holland art scene for more than a decade.
Nothing has deterred her from sharing her colorful pieces with the community, including breast cancer. Stich was diagnosed in January 2018.
“I did have breast cancer last year and I conquered it,” Stich said. “I was surrounded by so much love and support from not only my family, my friends, but this community.”
The Carolyn Stich Studio is located at 29 W. 8th Street in downtown Holland.
