GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — A man accused of driving drunk and causing a fatal crash near Coopersville last year entered into a plea agreement Monday, the day before his trial was scheduled to begin.
Court records show Bruce Ross pleaded no contest to three drunken driving counts, who of which were for causing death and the third of which was a for being a third-time offender.
Five other counts, including for driving on a suspended license causing death, are expected to be dismissed at sentencing.
The crash happened at the intersection of 40th Avenue and Cleveland Street in Wright Township in August. Authorities say Ross’ SUV hit a motorcycle trike in an intersection, killing the two people on the tike: 72-year-old Larry Hein and 67-year-old Joyce Hein.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 11.
