HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — The man who allegedly fired shots while trying to steal a designer bag has been formally charged.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says 21-year-old Christian Steven Bracamontes was arraigned Wednesday on charges of armed robbery, receiving and concealing stolen property and felony firearm.
Jerad Kluting told 24 Hour News 8 he was walking along Riley Street near US-31 in Holland Township late Monday afternoon when an armed man approached him, pulled a gun and demanded his Louis Vuitton bag. Kluting says he refused to give it up.
“I was like, ‘You’re not getting my Louis Vuitton,'” he said. “…I wasn’t about ready to relinquish it to some thug that was going to demand it from me.”
He said the would-be robber fired at least three shots at him. He thinks the first two were warning shots, but that the third was meant to hurt him.
Authorities found Bracmontes shortly after the alleged attempted robbery and arrested him. The sheriff’s office said he had a stolen handgun in his car.
