HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Pabst Brewing Co. may be tapping a Holland brewery to break into the whiskey industry.

MiBiz reports New Holland Brewing Company received federal label approval last month for a Pabst-branded whiskey. The publication says the “Pabst Blue Ribbon Whiskey” label submitted by New Holland Brewing President Brett VanderKamp on Dec. 21 says the whiskey is distilled and bottled by Pabst Brewing Company in Holland.

The label is for a 750-millileter, 80-proof whiskey which the label says is “aged 5 seconds.”

MiBiz said Vandercamp acknowledged the label but deferred to Pabst for details. Pabst declined to elaborate, saying several details are still being worked out.

New Holland began its relationship with Pabst in December 2016 when it signed a distribution deal allowing Pabst to distribute New Holland’s craft beers to wholesalers nationwide.

New Holland emphasized then that it would remain independent and all beers will continue to be brewed in Holland.
