Investigators: 4 cash store robberies possibly linked

GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Ottawa County sheriff’s deputies believe the man who robbed a cash store in Jenison is connected to three similar crimes in Holland, Kentwood and Roosevelt Park.

The most recent robbery happened around 5:56 p.m. Friday at the Cash Store, located at 7507 Cottonwood Drive. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect entered the store, flashed a handgun at cashiers, took cash and left the store.

As in previous crimes, he was wearing a blue University of Michigan hooded sweatshirt, a black mask, sunglasses and a dark stocking cap. He’s described as a white man who is between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 and weighs 150 to 175 pounds.

Detectives Friday released surveillance video from the Dec. 4 crime, in hopes someone would recognize the man.

The video shows the masked gunman walk into the Check N’ Go on Washington Avenue and immediately approach the counter with his weapon drawn. The robber eventually makes his way around the counter, taking an undisclosed amount of cash from the employee before running off.

Investigators believe the same person may be responsible for a Nov. 28 cash store robbery in Muskegon County’s Roosevelt Park, as well as the Nov. 6 armed robbery of a Check ‘N Go in Kentwood.

In the Kentwood crime, the suspect was seen driving a black sedan, possibly a Buick, with tinted windows. However in the Jenison crime, deputies say he was last seen driving a smaller older model light-colored SUV.
