HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Gateway Mission, formerly known as Holland Rescue Mission, is preparing to host its biggest fundraiser of the year.
The nonprofit’s annual golf outing has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in the past decade to help homeless men, women and children at the mission.
This year’s event will take place on June 6 at Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck. Although not a requirement to participate, golfers are encouraged to fundraise $1,500 which goes towards helping the mission continue its work of meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the homeless community with food, shelter, and biblical counseling. Nonprofit leaders said $1,500 can provide 617 meals or 25 nights of shelter.
“On average here at Gateway Mission, formerly Holland Rescue Mission, we serve about 150 guests every single day,” said Gateway Mission executive director Jay Riemersma. “We do breakfast, lunch, and dinner for on average 150 men, women, and children and so this is a critical component of our fundraising each and every year to make sure we have the resources necessary to feed those less fortunate in our community.”
This year’s fundraising goal is $80,000. If you are interested in donating, registering to participate as a golfer, or learning more about the services Gateway Mission offers, you can find more information here.
