HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Gas stations in Holland have some of the lowest prices in the state.
As of Saturday, at least four different stations were charging $2.29 per gallon of unleaded gas.
That’s 50 cents less than the state average and 42 cents less than the national average, according to AAA.

“We were just talking about the gas prices on the way up,” said Debbie and Jim Korteway as they stopped at a Mobil. “It’s like $2.79 down the street, $2.29 here. The whole way up, its different prices.”
24 Hour News 8 spoke with drivers who said the prices just dropped at some of the stations on Friday.
“I said ‘wow’ and came back,” said Norman Miller as he filled up. “I don’t know why it needs to fluctuate so much. Something is happening.”
The stations say the only reason its prices are so low to compete with the new Speedway down the street. The new station has had its unleaded prices set at $2.29 per gallon since it opened a few weeks ago.
“I’m filling up. It’s the cheapest place around, even from South Haven up,” said Tammy Rodrick at a Pilot J station.
Rodrick says saving a few dollars can make a world of difference for her family.
“That $5 could be used toward food,” Rodrick added. “It’s the cheapest way to go. When you’ve got kids, you’ve got to have it!”
There is no time frame on when the prices may change, but AAA expects an increase ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.
