GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — A Grand Haven holiday lights company that found success after appearing on ABC’s “Shark Tank” will soon close.

“It’s been an incredible journey, and we have created some amazing products, but things have changed and the lights are dimming,” GeekMyTree founder Brad Boyink wrote supporters in a Wednesday email.

Boyink blames knock-off products, tariffs and “patent trolls” for the demise of his business.

Boyink launched his holiday lights career with the Holiday Road musical Christmas light show, which ran in the Grand Haven and Spring Lake areas for six years.

Boyink launched GeekMyTree in 2014 “to bring the excitement of Holiday Road to the masses.”

His product allows people to program their Christmas tree lights to different colors, designs and patters from a free mobile app.

GeekMyTree appeared on Shark Tank in December 2015.
