GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — While you’re out at Lake Michigan in Grand Haven this summer, you can now enjoy the beach from the comfort of a cabana.
The cabanas are a new addition at Grand Haven State Park.
Gregg Henry, the owner of GH Beach Cabanas, says he received approval from the state park in November to open the business. The cabanas were ordered in January from Germany and were available to rent this week.
Henry says the cabanas are well-suited for the beach in Grand Haven because of where they were produced.
“They are made for the north shore of Germany, the Baltic coast. That area is similar to Lake Michigan and Lake Superior where you always have a cool breeze coming off the lake, especially early in the summer and in the fall,” he said. “It just seemed to fit for this area.”
Each cabana seats two people. They fully recline, have footrests and come with a cup holder and small table.
The cabanas cost $10 per hour, $40 for 4 hours or $50 for a full day to rent. There’s also a sunset option where a cabana can be rented from 7 p.m. to sunset for $20.
Grand Haven residents and veterans can receive a 10 percent discount.
