HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A bicyclist was hospitalized Saturday evening after being struck and then dragged by a truck bearing a snowplow blade northwest of Holland.
It happened just before 8 p.m. on North 144th Avenue near Butternut Drive in Holland Township.
Authorities say a 25-year-old man from Holland was riding his bike on North 144th Avenue when he was hit by the pickup truck, which had a snowplow blade on the front.
The bicyclist was dragged for several hundred yards. Authorities say he was taken to Holland Hospital and then Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
Deputies say the driver of the truck, a 46-year-old man from Holland, couldn’t see the bicyclist, nor did he realize he had hit him.
Police say the driver was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation. Alcohol and drug use do not appear to have been factors.
