PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A teen bicyclist was hospitalized Thursday evening after being hit by a car near Holland.
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on S. Bristol Street at N. 168th Avenue in Park Township.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says a driver told deputies she stopped at the intersection and prepared to turn on to 168th. She said she couldn’t see around some bushes, so she moved forward to get a better view. When she did so, she hit the bicyclist, who had been riding along the sidewalk.
The bicyclist fell into the windshield on the passenger’s side and then landed on the ground on the driver’s side.
The bicyclist, a 14-year-old from Zeeland, was wearing a helmet. The teen was later listed in stable condition at Holland Community Hospital, authorities said.
The driver, a 17-year-old from Zeeland Township, was not hurt.
