GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities are investigating after someone tried to damage a church near Jenison.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to the Fair Haven Church near the intersection of Baldwin Street and 28th Avenue in Georgetown Township.

Church members found a bottle on the ground that appeared to have a flammable liquid inside.

Investigators say the bottle was thrown at a window in an attempt to damage the church. The window did not break, and the fire burned itself out without causing damage, according to the sheriff’s office.

No suspect information was provided by the sheriff’s office.
