GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (WOOD) — The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation says it has contributed $3 million to the effort to build the proposed Waterfront Stadium.
The foundation said the gift kicking off fundraising efforts for the stadium was made possible by Lynne Sherwood, a recently-late community philanthropist, according to a Thursday release.
The proposed stadium would go in off S. Harbor Drive near Washington Avenue.
The foundation is still seeking donations to devote to the project, which will be funded through grants and community support. A comprehensive spending plan for the effort is expected to be announced soon.
