GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Four comedians you may recognize from movies and TV are coming to Grand Rapids for Gilda’s LaughFest.
Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids announced its second round of headliners Thursday, including:
- Katt Williams – A comedian and actor who starred in “NYPD Blue,” “The Tracy Morgan Show” and “My Wife and Kids” and will appear in the 2017 film, “Bastards.” Williams’ LaughFest debut will take place at 8 a.m. on March 26 at Van Andel Arena as a special 2017 festival encore.
- Joel McHale – Television host of E!’s “The Soup” and actor on “Community,” “The X-Files” and “The Great Indoors.” He released his new book, “Thanks for the Money,” on Oct. 25.
- Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme – Creators and actors in “Super Troopers” and “Beerfest,” these two comedians will headline performances together at Wealthy Theatre on March 18 at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Earlier this month, organizers announced Michigan native Sinbad and Iliza Shlesinger would return for LaughFest next year.
Other LaughFest events will include the Best of the Midwest Competition, the National Stand-up Comedy Showcase, the Clean Comedy Showcase, FUNderwear Run and Seriously Funny Adventure.
Organizers say passes to the comedy event are the perfect holiday gift-giving people something to look forward to as we go through the harsh West Michigan winter.
“I always say this is a great gift to give: give the gift of laughter. I mean it’s nice to get another sweater or some socks, but a memory is something that lasts forever,” said Wendy Wigger, President of Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids and LaughFest.
Ticket packages and festival badges for LaughFest will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. on LaughFest’s website. Comedy fans can also purchase tickets by calling 616.735.4242.
“This is your first and best chance to get some of the best tickets and seats available at this time,” said Wigger.
Tickets to individual acts will go on sale beginning in late January.
LaughFest runs from March 9 to March 19. Proceeds from the event go toward Gidla’s Club Grand Rapids, which provides support for cancer patients, survivors and their families.
