New Holland Brewing holding job fair in GR Wednesday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — New Holland Brewing Co. is hosting a series of hiring events with the goal of filling 150 positions at its new brewpub on Grand Rapids’ West Side.

The first hiring event of five is set for Wednesday.

“We plan to be hiring a little over 150 people to work at the new Grand Rapids location,” Joel Petersen, New Holland Brewing’s vice president of marketing, said. “(Wednesday)’s job fair is to be hiring some of the management, beverage managers, floor mangers, sous chef, butcher, among a few other positions.”

Server positions will be hired later, once the restaurant is closer to being ready to open.

The job fair will start at 6 p.m. and run until 9 p.m. in the ROC room at Rockford Construction headquarters, located at 601 First Street NW in Grand Rapids. Job details can be found online.

New Holland’s new restaurant, The Knickerbocker, is going in at the intersection of Bridge Street NW and Broadway Avenue. The company aims to hire and train workers before the brewpub and distillery opens in mid-September, just before ArtPrize.

“It’s a pretty amazing space right now. What I’m really excited about is the beer hall there. Its open three stories tall, there is going to be long family style seating. Just a beautiful location, I think it’s going to be really, really unique to West Michigan,” Petersen said.

The Knickerbocker will have a farm-fresh menu, well-loved craft beer and one-of-a-kind artisan spirits. There will also be a beer garden, formal and casual dining spaces, a cocktail lounge and community rental space.

“What’s going to amaze people about this location is going to be the quality of the food. We are going to be doing everything from scratch. A huge majority is going to be locally sourced from farms around here. We’re going to have a whole animal butchery on site. We’re really looking at this location as our place to take our food to the next level, so that everything brought to your table — the beer, the spirits — embodies that craft spirit and is handmade in house,” said Petersen.
