(WOOD) — In just 24 hours this week, four automakers issued recalls involving more than 1.7 million vehicles.

In a time when recalls seem to be a daily occurrence, it can be difficult to know if your vehicle is safe.

That’s where the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration comes in.

The NHTSA has set up a website where you can check if there are any open recalls for your vehicle, its tires, car seats or automotive equipment.

Visitors to safercar.gov can search recalls based on their vehicle identification number (VIN), or by make or model.

Drivers can also report problems or sign up to get email alerts about recalls.

The NHTSA estimates nearly 64 million vehicles were involved in recalls in 2014 – the largest amount in history.
