MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Muskegon police are identifying a man whose body was pulled from Muskegon Lake.

Officers say 48-year-old Dan Gorajec, who is an avid fisherman, was found in the lake Friday. A neighbor last saw him alive earlier that morning.

Investigators say a small dinghy found 75 to 100 feet from Gorajec doesn’t appear to have anything to do with his death. The watercraft belongs to someone else who reported it had been lost recently as it was towed between marinas.

Police say Gorajec was fully clothed when he was discovered and had no visible trauma to his body. While investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy, they suspect he drowned.

Despite several searches of Muskegon Lake’s south coastline, police say they haven’t found two fishing poles missing from Gorajec’s home. Anyone with additional information about the case is asked to contact the Muskegon Police Department.
