Motorcyclist dies after hitting deer in Muskegon Co.

FRUITLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A motorcyclist was killed after he struck a deer in Muskegon County Monday.

The crash happened on Duck Lake Road near Mystic Lane in Fruitland Township, north of Muskegon.

The Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office said the motorcyclist was heading eastbound on Duck Lake Road when he hit the deer.

The man, who the sheriff’s office identified as 50-year-old Mark Kelley, was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

Deputies said Kelley was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Speed and alcohol are not factors in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
