Man’s body pulled from Muskegon Lake

Muskegon County

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Investigators say a Muskegon man is dead after being pulled from Muskegon Lake.

His body was discovered by a fisherman shortly before 9:30 a.m. Friday on the south side of the lake near the 900 block of W. Western Ave., at the tip of a peninsula southwest of downtown Muskegon, authorities said.

Investigators who were called the the scene found a small dingy near the body of the 48-year-old man, which was found in the water and pulled ashore. At this point, it’s unclear if the boat belonged to the victim, Muskegon Department of Public Safety Director Jeffrey Lewis said. No life jackets were found nearby.

It’s unclear how long the man was in the water, but authorities believe he drowned. Investigators say there are no obvious signs of trauma to his body.

Police are withholding the man’s name until they’ve notified his family.
