MUSKEGON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Muskegon County school district is investigating a data breach in its online student information system.
Orchard View Schools Superintendent Jim Nielsen said the district found out about the breach in PowerSchool last week, according to message posted to the district’s website and Facebook page on Wednesday.
It appeared the breach only affected the records of Orchard View High School students. Nielsen said “unauthorized changes” were made to attendance records and grades.
Nielsen said the district has reached out to the parents of students who were involved and the investigation is ongoing.
Orchard View Schools are located in Muskegon Township, east of Muskegon.
