HOLTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman died after crashing her vehicle into a tree late Monday night northeast of Muskegon.

The Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office has identified her as 20-year-old Madisan White of Hesperia.

Authorities say a passerby spotted the crash around 11 p.m. Monday on E. Holton Whitehall Road near Whetmire Road, just north of Unger Lake in Holton Township.

The sheriff’s office says the driver was headed east on E. Holton Whitehall Road when she veered off the road and hit a tree. White was pinned in the vehicle and unresponsive when the passerby came across the crash. She died at the scene.

The sheriff’s office says there were no signs the driver braked before the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office. Authorities haven’t yet determined if alcohol was a factor, but say that speed and road conditions did contribute.
