Driver dies after truck hits Norton Shores home

NORTON SHORES, Mich. (WOOD) — A man died after his pickup crashed into a house in Norton Shores, and police are looking into whether a medical condition was to blame.

It happened shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday at the corner of Hile Road and Lauren Drive, west of Grand Haven Road. The Norton Shores Police Department says the pickup truck left the road and slammed into the house without the driver hitting the brakes.

When emergency responders got to the scene, they found the truck on fire inside the house. Firefighters doused the flames and pulled the driver from the truck. He died at the scene.

His name was not released Thursday, but police said he is a 57-year-old man.

Police suspect a medical condition caused the crash, but were still investigating.

Someone was home when the crash happened, but that person wasn't hurt. The driver was the only person in the truck.
